About Convert tools
Converting into PDF is the easy direction: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Markdown, and images all have a defined layout that maps cleanly onto fixed pages. Converting out is harder, because a PDF only records where marks sit on a page — it has no concept of a paragraph or a table. PDF to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, and EPUB all reconstruct that structure by inference, so expect a good result on a clean digital PDF and a rougher one on a scan.
Two tools here solve specific problems. PDF/A strips anything that depends on the outside world — linked fonts, external resources — so the file will still render identically decades from now, which archives and courts often require. OCR handles the scanned-page case, finding the text in the image and layering it behind the page so the document becomes searchable and selectable without changing how it looks. The heavier conversions need a real layout engine and run on the server; those files are deleted within the hour.
